The Pell City High School Fine Arts Department is hosting its annual Winter Cabaret on Feb. 8-9. The event features performances by all four of the arts divisions at the school – drama, choral, band and visual art – in the Center for Education and Performing Arts (CEPA).
The show starts on the stage at 7 p.m., but be sure to come early to catch the PCHS Jazz Band performing in the lobby and look over the fantastic collection of paintings, drawings and photos on the walls.
Led by instructor Ginger McCurry, the PCHS Drama Department starts the Cabaret with a rendition of the musical “Big Bad,” which centers on the Big Bad Wolf’s trial for his crimes in the world of fairy tales. The performance features a selection of songs fun for the whole family interspersed throughout the courtroom drama.
The Cabaret continues with the annual show from the PCHS Showstoppers, the school’s show choir. The performance this year, titled “The Evolution of Dance” is another high-energy offering from McCurry’s group, which regularly places in regional and state competitions with their work.
It’s the only time of the year that all four divisions of the Fine Arts Department appear in the same place for a performance, so don’t miss the final Cabaret show Friday, Feb. 9. The Jazz Band begins at 6:30, and the show starts at 7 p.m. in the CEPA theater.
